Animal Rights

Our animal welfare pillar of ethics encompasses wild animals, domestic animals and factory-farmed animals. NDF strives to advocate for those who can not advocate for themselves. All animals are sentient beings who deserve the right to live in a humane environment.

Sindisa Sanctuary is an animal sanctuary run by the Nature Defense Foundation. Sindisa provides a forever home for over 50 rescued farm animals and wild horses on 150 acres in Northern California. Our mission at Sindisa is to share our animals’ joy of freedom with our visitors who learn about Farm Animal Welfare and the plight of American Wild Horses. We hope to raise awareness around the fact that all animals are sentient beings who deserve fundamental rights and compassion.

Environmental Protection

Nature Defense Foundation uses its resources to protect and actively conserve native flora and faun. In addition to directly supporting national parks, land trusts, indigenous lands, and nature preserves we support conservation stewards within their communities. Environmental education is the blueprint for the future if we are to productively manage our changing climate and our future farms.

Sustainable Energy

Nature Defense Foundation seeks to support the development and usage of sustainable energy sources, which includes efforts to promote zero-waste culture. We believe that by limiting our carbon footprint we can solve problems that aren’t just climate-related but socio-economically relevant. NDF uses its resources to foster alternative ways of interacting with our environmental and biological sustainability.
